AUDIO PODCAST SUITE

Rock Valley College

I was commissioned by Rock Valley College as an acoustical consultant on an Audio Podcast Suite. I held a clinic for students to learn about room acoustics and assist with the construction of baffles.

Measurements taken prior to acoustic modification revealed a 250 through 4000 Hz average reverberation time of .9 seconds. Once completed, reverberation time was recorded at .6 seconds which was within are target range given the rooms purpose.  The room is currently being used as an extension of their media lab and for their Online Learning Objectives. Students and faculty alike are able to utilize the room to record content for lectures and other school projects.

IN-CEILING PA SYSTEM

Center for Sight & Hearing

I was contracted to design and install a sound system in the community room of a non-profit. As the non-profit was centered around hearing and vision disorders, clear even distribution of audio signal throughout the 1,624 square foot room was essential.

Ultimately, an 8 speaker in-ceiling design with 450 watt RMS capabilities was installed. Installation included calibration of feedback systems to allow the wireless microphones to be used throughout the room without acoustic feedback. The room is used on a regular basis for educational events, gatherings, and community outreach.

WOODWORKING PROJECTS

Hobbies

Woodworking is a relaxing hobby and each project offers unique creative challenges.  Many of my projects revolve around acoustics and audio. However, I enjoy exploring other more abstract and commonplace items.
